1. What a bunch of jerks. LW1 needs to stand firm this year, and going forward, LW and Carissa need to lay down the law regarding what sort of help the extended family must provide as their entry fee to Thanksgiving.
2. I kinda feel that LW2 needs to look in a mirror here.
3. Goose isn't some bizarre, outre substitute for turkey. It's a bird. It's not like this woman served them grasshopper pate, venison liver, and tofu. Those jerks need a serious lesson in manners, every one of them.
4. LW4 needs to not go to Mom's house or allow her unsupervised child with Baby until either Baby outgrows this or Mom has an attitude adjustment. The good news is that Baby doesn't know what the holiday is any more than my dog does.
5. I don't know if SIL has an eating disorder or what, but in this case it actually sounds like her wishes should be fairly simple to accommodate. Bake up all the chicken in advance, heat it up for her meals. Or wrap it tightly in foil and toss it in with something else the day of. She doesn't have to eat the same as everybody else, and if everything she's willing to eat is as simple as totally unseasoned baked chicken, well, okay then.
6. LW6 should not have made these plans in their head until after the family had RSVP'd - and those invites should've gone out months ago. (Though it's kinda weird that Sis can't visit because BIL is working. Surely they could spend Thanksgiving with BIL and then Sis and the kids could visit LW for the rest of the weekend? When BIL is working and not home anyway? But maybe Sis just doesn't want to and didn't want to say that.)
7. I don't trust any LW who uses the word "excuse" instead of "reason".
What truly stings is that she doesn't seem to care about how her choice affects me, focusing only on her own comfort.
