I think this is a situation that requires some tact, but also some direct use of words as well.

LW's friend seems to have built up a beautiful fantasy in her head of what their relationship is going to be like after LW moves to her city, and the longer she has to focus on her fantasy without being directly contradicted, the worse she's going to take it when LW inevitably fails to abide by it.
